You might want to download the SNG Barratt parts manual for the XK8. That will help identify the piece you are looking for. Follow this link.SNG Barratt - The Ultimate Jaguar Parts Specialist
Take a look at page 59 or 60 and it will give a nice blow up of the parts.

I've moved your question from General Tech Help to XK8/XKR forum.

Please post future model specific questions in the model forum and not in the General Tech Help forum.

Greetings Graham,

Thanks for guiding my ? to the XK8 forum. With an engine number of NL0204290439 and these last #s of the VIN: A30302 would you be aware if this engine has the steel or plastic tensioners? And/or any additional info you may share regarding this engine?

Cheers,

ER

Your engine came off the Bridgend production line at 04:39 on 29th April 2002. Unless the tensioners have been replaced, they will not be the reliable 'fourth generation' steel type.

I'm told the only way to confirm tensioner type with my build date would be to remove the passenger valve cover and visually confirm tensioner type. Others inform me the engine has steel while others say plastic, I'll lift the cover and then know for sure.

Cheers,

ER

Are you asking about the rear suspension's "wishbone" / control arm? I don't believe ours have any bushings at all. I guess they're either tight or they get get replaced. Maybe the long bolts are designed to wear sacrificially first.

Appreciate your reply. The rear lower X-Member can be easily viewed when vehicle is on a lift, it's an important structural bracket with two bushings one on each end practically extending 3/4 the width of the vehicles body. I have now secured this part and am taking delivery. You can view a diagram, simply google "Jaguar 2002 XK8 rear lower subassembly" You'll see that rear lower bracket in the diagram laying horizontally versus the other different triangular bracket standing vertically above it.

Have a good one,

ER

OK. Cool. I thought you might have been asking about the actual suspension component. Good luck with the project. Enjoy the car!
