Default Recaro Seats

I have the Recaro seats in my 2005 XKR and because the lateral bolsters are rather substantial it is difficult to enter the car without rubbing up against them, thus contributing to wear. I was wondering if it is possible to move the driver side left seat back bolster to the passenger left side and vise-versa? The seat backs appear to be in three sections. Has anyone on the Forum ever taken a Ricar seat back apart and if so is it possible to do the switch?

Thanks

Tim V.

What color are your seats ???? I have a set of early seats in black that I had recovered in black leather, the seats are in excellant condition. The leather that was used is far superior to the original. I even had the back cover panel done in leather.

My jaguar service adviser mentioned doing this exact same thing if I wanted their upholstery guy to fix my bolster on the driver side. He would dye them of course, but being on the passenger side would not get NEAR the wear, if any, therefore should last a long time.

And, driver side gets 'fresh' leather.

I was considering doing this, but my seat portion has some minor cracking too, so I was just going to get both seats re-covered at once...maybe next year.

I have the Ivory leather Recaros'. The passenger side looks about new. The wear on the driver side is at a point if I can just switch the bolsters I should easily get another 3-4 years before recovering. I have been using Connolly leather conditioner on them every 3-4 months and it has kept the leather supple. So if it is possible to just switch the bolsters that is what I will do first. The Recaro seats really provide excellent lateral support. If anyone out there has tackled this switch or had someone else do it for them I would appreciate your thoughts.

Thanks for the replies.

Sorry for the hijack, but the stitched beading on the backrest down the edge of my seat is wearing through and is white which shows up as the seats are black, it's about 3'' long. Can one get a black dye to solve this small problem ?
