Red light on Speedometer

Default Red light on Speedometer
I recently had to charge the battery on my 2001 XK8 and now there is an illuminated red oval light on the speedometer gauge(right side near the 170 mph mark. What does this indicate?

Is there a message in the lower part of the speedometer ? The red light can mean several different things. The message center details which item needs attention.

You should have your battery on a maintenance charge 24/7 when the car is not in use.

Make sure all your doors, trunk and hood are closed tight. That's what I found when the red light scared the crap out of me. lol
