I am looking at a 2000 xk8 that needs the top hydro. lines replaced. can an average pedrson do this or is it a job for the jag dealer to handle?

 

I've done two of them and by all means I'm not a Jaguar mechanic. It takes awhile your first time though so just make sure you have patience and time to do it.

I hope the car's purchase price reflects your "sweat equity"--at least full retail price for making the repairs. Don't forget that the car also needs the pressure relief valve added on--as outlined in Gus' repair sites--which is cheap insurance.
