reliability of the XKR
As I have been researching for my next daily driver, I have found many positives of the XKR (First gen) but I was not finding many posts on various parts that were problematic. Now I am aware of the issues with the AJ26 engine, ie cylinder liner, upper tensioner, etc, and so I am assuming that those all carry over to the AJ26S? And then in 2000 brought the AJ27S with the cast-iron lined cylinder walls and finally 2003 saw the AJ34S, which recieved the revised tensioner and a bit longer stroke.
So what I am wondering is, were the main issues just the same for the XKR as they were for the XK8? I am also curious as to if there was any reinforcement to any of the engine or was the sole difference between the AJ34 and the AJ34S the roots charger and required components? In addition what is the stock PSI?
None of my cars stay stock long and seeing that there is a very limited modding community for the Jag I would be custom fabbing most of the changes I would make. These are my initial questions about this car, and will help me decide if it might possibly suit me. Beyond these I will be curious if anyone has tested the limits of the engine and transmission, but I can always figure those out myself
I just need to start with the basics, what if any issues are there with a 2003-2006 XKR?
Thanks for any responses

RE: reliability of the XKR
Alright, thanks guys, and yaI figured it had different pistons and rods haha
now what kind of A/F ratios does it run stock? and to what extent will the stock ECU adjust it without having either a flash, piggyback or replacement ECU. And I am still wondering what PSI it is stock. Also which Eaton supercharger and transmissions do they have? Roots style superchargers are amazing with the instant torque but they do have a limit to how much power they can create because of the design, and I would like to see what I can find on the specific transmissions to see if there is possibly another application of the transmission that i could figure out at what point it needed to replace the valves or even if there are any beefed up valves available. So if anyone knows the tranny codes and Eaton supercharger model those would be very helpful.
Also what companies are there that make parts for Jaguars? Are there any LSD's, brake kits, or coilovers designed for it? What about adjustable swaybars? Engine parts or ECU upgrades? All of the cars that I have owned have had communities that I could find this information or I already knew of the major tuners, whether it was a Nissan, Porsche, Mercedes, BMW, or Toyota I never had this difficulty finding the information that I wanted haha, So thanks for the help If anyone has some information.

The transmission is a Mercedes Benz box W5A580 for 2000-2003 XKR. After that they got a ZF 6HP26 box.
Supercharger I have no idea. We just put on what Jag sends us.
For tuning needs, pricey but perfect click here: http://www.arden.de/aade/zubehoer.ph...13939323d34696

RE: reliability of the XKR
oh wow $5558 for a piggyback and $4478 for exhaust? Thats more than parts for the GT-R are going to cost me.. as in the new GT-R not even the R34 and that car is only preordered at the moment. And are there no LSD's out? That is the main negative for me at this point.
Oh and the Eaton M112 supercharger is what is used at leastfor the2000 model year if anyone else was wondering. I finally found that out haha.
