A reminder to all, be careful where you park...
caddie, i have yet to find a lambo to park next to!
A minivan would be the same premise (sliding door) but what about all those flailing kids with toys in their hand, jeans with snaps....i'm cringing just thinking about them dragging themselves along my car to get into the side of the van. and sis pushes brother...BAM, another dent in the door.
All of this is just hypothetical, but I don't like the way it is turning out in my head. So, no minivans either.
Ann, good link to a fun-reading forum thread. It led me to this link too. funny

Yep, just like everybody here, I have learned to at least try to be careful. I bought my '98 coupe in the winter and the first day I couldn't wait to get it out. I ended up having to park in a garage and wouldn't you know it -- dent on driver's side. I had to look at it and be reminded of my impatience for the next few years.
In the meantime I do all of the tricks of parking too. First, try to go to a far away lot and park on the end -- preferably by a curb so no one else can park at least on one side. In not too busy lots, I will park diagonal and take up 2 spots, and when worse comes to worse, I try to park next to nicer vehicles. The last one's definitely not a cure all, but many times if somebody looks like they have a nice vehicle that they have modified, keep clean, take care of, or anything in general that makes me think they aren't a door denting *****, then I'll go there.

If I can get to work early enough, there are two spaces by themselves in a corner; a green government vehicle has been parked over there since last winter (I don't even think it runs anymore). If I can get the space next to it, no worries for that day.
Good luck, and my condolences, sights like this nauseate me. I think I would go BS if that happened to me. It did with a previous car, some AH backed into my driver’s side door and crushed it. Did they stick around, NO!
I'm with you guys, it's all about jealousy! Along with the standard of finding that someone has parked extremely close to my baby in a lot, I've actually had people on the freeway come close enough on my sides to hit me, WHY??? And, I've come out of a store and found that someone has thrown their paper trash in my car. WHY???
Wow, you guys put a lot effort into your parking, but you're making me smile, don't ever come to the UK guys, the spaces are extremely small much worse than yours whenever I've been over in the US, my XJR is huge by UK standards and I've tried pretty much all of the above 'cept the trolley, with the same results, no matter how far away or secluded a spot some )0( parks right next to me. My only working trick is to take an end spot and park right next to the kerb, like an inch away, leaving the absolute maximum possible space between me and the guy who is inevitably gonna park next to me.
