Default Removing instrument cluster xk8 2000

OK race fans, I recently tried to effect Bob's Instrument Pack Assembly –
CAN Failure – Service Action S484. However, JTIS doesn't work with my operating system. So here are my lessons learned on removing the instrument pack on a 2000 NA XK-8.

It's pretty easy.

Before you disconnect the battery, move the steering wheel down and out of the way.

There are two 8mm bolts under the dash proximate to the steering wheel.

Slight tug toward you and it's out.

Then there are two Philips screws at the bottom of the fascia.

You'll need to remove the wires from the back of the odometer button cluster.

Left side.

Not the left side.

Then there are four 7mm bolts holding the cluster in place.

You can see there are two plugs to be removed. There's a little tab holding a cam handle in place. Need a small screw driver to depress the tab, pull the handle (it's small) all the way toward the front of the plug (away from the wire bundle). Pop those bad boys out of the way (you can see it in the first picture).

Then you have to fight the cluster to the right and out. You'll figure it out.

That's it.

Happy motoring,
j

These photos are a good accompaniment to Reverend Sam's video on the subject
