After extensive fault finding, and thanks to anyone on here who helped. It appears that some light fingered member of the salvage industry has exchanged my ECU for an incorrect older one. i have managed to source a second hand one (£2000 cheaper than a new one) but the motor still wont start. It has cleared all the faults but no vroom! any ideas? should i start it with the old one and then exchange it?

Does anybody know if the OBD 11 unit from costco, will reset the restricted performance error message if i fit the new ECU, or does it need programming in or something?

I'm not entirely sure Paul. An ECU may need programmed with the jag WDS system. I hope someone will jump in to confirm.
