Question Restricted Performance Light

Lately, while driving around 72MPH on I-10, in my 2005 XKR the "Restricted Performance" light will suddenly come on, which in turn makes my Engine Light come on....BUT the Car continues running along at 72......as though nothing has happened....One time it felt like I had turned the key off and back on..twice but it kept on running along at 72 all the other times it just turned on the lights....Has never gone into limp-mode....just keeps on running 72....

I had it checked on a Jag computer and it says that Bank #1 is to lean and that cylinder #1 & #3 are misfiring....Some time back, I had to replace an Injector in #3. As you know, they had to remove the Supercharger to do this and I wonder if maybe they didn't get a good sill on the gasket when they put it back together?

Has anyone had a similar problem? (I know, don't drive 72)

hi there i had a similar experience last wk.
for the 1ST time in 10 yr's i got the dreaded RP msg .
cruising at 70mph on the motorway.
anyway cut a long story short had it read at my mates garage & it said lntermitent water temperature !
got 1 ordered from Jaguar dealership & decided to flush the system thoroughly as i was at a loose end so to to speak .
so removed the thermostat & well it was obvious where the fault was - the stat was capital K'd (knackered).
new thermostat ordered & fitted today.
now the water temp guage is central NOT on the !st line above the blue area .
so Jaguar re-imbursed me the £73.37 & i purchased the thermostat from e bay £21.
hope this helps
Cheer's now
Andy

for Sherpa ....the temp sender has a big influence on the fueling so maybe that caused your weak mix.
for Price 36.
the only times I have had restricted performance is when oil/water has got into plug tubes..you must blow with compressed air if you find any oil on the coil rubbers tip.
I think they washed the engine before I bought the car .

sherpa,

Wouldn't it be nice if all our Jaguar problems could be solved this easily? It's been so long since I had this problem, I hardly remember what I fianlly did to solve it! I know that I don't have it anymore and with all the problems I have had with the Car over the years, I am thankful that the problem was solved!

Thank you for letting me know!
