I would like to replace the front seats in my 2002 XKR convertible with the older, and I think better looking 1999 and earlier high back bucket seats and was wondering if anyone knows whether this is a simple swap. Are the mounting points, controls and connectors the same or am I in for a bit of work? I'm also wondering if I could just simply replace the seat backs and keep my existing seat bottoms because most of the available seat sets I've seen in my color, black, have way more wear on the seat bottoms and the seat backs look much better. So, again is that a workable option and simple swap or ??? Thanks, in advance for any help on this.

 

Got to say i agree and disagree. I love the look of my 1999 xkr seats as you do , but the other day I got out of the 2003 xkr and into the 99 and thought how more comfortable the newer seats were. Tough call.

 

I agree. Like lots of decisions in life its the question of whether its better to look good or feel good but I've got a local upholstery shop I use for my cars and motorcycles that will work on the comfort, fit and support if I decide to go through with the mod. I just don't know whether I'm getting into a more complicated project than Its worth. I hope there's some prior knowledge I can tap into.
