Default Reversing lights permanently on (XKR 2004)

Hi everybody,

I found out yesterday on my 2004 convertible XKR that the reversing lights were permanently on, regardless the gearbox lever position !
Even in P,N or D, these lights are on.

When shutting down the engine and removing the key, the lights go off.
When starting again, the lights are on again.

I tried to recycle many times the gear lever, disconnect the battery cables for a long time to allow a reset of the TCM module, but with no effect.
Anyone with a suggestion on this problem ?

Thank you so much !

Are both backup lights on? This is just a shot in the dark but there is a switch on the dash that turns on the rear fog light. I believe this only turns on one of the backup lights but I'm not certain. Is it possible that this switch is on, or perhaps stuck in the on position?

Yes, both backup lights are on. And the fog light switch is not stuck unfortunately.

I was more thinking of a problem on the transmission control switch below the gearbox lever, or something else related to the gearbox.

Anyone with another idea ? Thanx !

M.
