Bought mine used and the rims were already chromed. IMO, the chrome goes well with the BRG, tan top and cashmere interior. Kind of a classic style. You will get many opinions on this.

This is one of those questions that can be debated forever; ultimately comes down to personal preference.

So, that being said, my is usually no on the chrome for a few reasons. Primarily, and again not to offend those with chrome wheels, I find it to be somewhat tacky looking and not very elegant. 100% personal preference. Also, there are lots of different levels of quality when it comes to aftermarket chrome, and the good ones are $$$. The cheaper ones don't hold up very well, and then you have a real issue.

Additionally, Jaguar never offered a factory chrome option on any year of the X100. Generally speaking, I like to keep my cars as original as possible and only do additions/upgrades if it was a factory option at the time. So another strike against chrome.

The only time I think chrome looks alright is on certain cars with Dayton wires. My XJSC came with them, but I ultimately went back to the stock alloys.

I'm sure the next responder will probably disagree, and you might too, which is fine because it's not my car! Do what you think looks best

Default Chromed double fives get lots of positive comments

Black car with chromed wheels goes nicely with other chromed or silvery items.

The REAL PROBLEM with chromed wheels is the air loss problem as the chrome ages and the tire cannot always keep a seal. So cold nights you lose some pressure and in am you are halfway to flat. Same problem with two Lexus LS sedans that had chrome wheels.

01Silverstone, are you saying these are not factory chrome wheels on my 03.

Not sure about your 03, but in 06 chrome Atlas wheels were a standard offering from Jaguar. I still have the brochure.

That's my error, you are correct that the Atlas wheels were offered in chrome for '06 only.

That's correct, Jandreu. Those are the Apollo style wheels, which are OEM Jaguar, but only in an alloy finish.

that's interesting, I just bought this car, it's a two owner with very complete service records and receipts and there's nothing about the wheels replaced or chromed. I'll have to do a little research on this.

One possibility that I've heard of is dealers having the wheels chromed upon taking delivery of the car and offering them as a "dealer installed accessory." So if there's no record of them having been done, this is a possible explanation.

With the XJS, it was very common for dealers to offer chromed Dayton wires as an upgrade over the stock alloys.

That's a possibility, thanks for the info. Trying to learn all I can about my new ride. Been searching for the last hour or so and read a lot about the Apollo's being only a two year wheel and somewhat rare. I was thinking of replacing them but may reconsider now. I do like the look of the chromed Apollo's better than the brushed finish with my color.

I don't mind chrome wheels....... Some wheels like Revolvers look horrible in alloy but as chrome don't look so bad, it is a personal preference.....

Go the chrome and bugger what Jaguar intended they were only supplying to the masses

Yes, they are quite rare! I have an '05 with the base wheel (Aris), and was looking to replace them with either the Apollos or a set of BBS wheels. The BBS ones ended up being out of my price range, so I decided on the Apollos. Searched for 6 months before finding a complete set in Canada. So I'd say keep them; they are, in my opinion, the best of the non-BBS wheels.

And with you color, I must say I like the chrome. Mine is Slate, which is a darker gray/blue, and the chrome would stand out too much.

Beautiful car you have there.. hope she brings many years of enjoyment!
