Default Ripped off on thermostat housing?

I just had the plastic thermostat housing replaced with an aluminum one. The charge for the housing, a new thermostat and one hose was $415. Seems a tad steep. The housing alone was over $200. Did I get burned?

Did this also include a new water pump?

Post thermostat housing

You could have been, without seeing the bill I don't know about the Misc. charges.Alldata list it as a 1.4 hour job @ $120.00 Dealer rate the labor s/b $168.00,but like I said, the misc charges on top of the 168.00 could bring it to $200-250.00 labor and shop cost for the job.As far as the part, you could have got it for half that directly, but when you don't ask up front for an estimate, and have time to check it out you are left open to the max that they can charge. The are in business to make a profit, they stock the parts, have the people and tools on hand to do the job.(I did the job and start to finish, take tools out set up put away stuff and clean up took me about 3.5 hours)I know the guys at my dealership and they treat me fair.

I paid around $85.00 for the aluminum housing. I think my total for the job, thermostat and hoses was around $200 + / - a few. I did install it myself and it took about 2 1/2 hrs. However, if your car is xkr I think you may run into additional charges.

Gus doesn't drink a six pack of diet coke during his repair like I do,therefore less bathroom breaks .I paid the same for parts as Gus,I got the housing from Motorcars and it was around $85.00 plus like Gus I replaced the hoses.I did have two bolts that took up about half of the repair time.Hope this give you some input.

I want you to know I did have my beer as I was working and the bathroom is close by. When you get to be my age the bathroom is a necessity along with the beer! Been getting my stuff from Ken at Motorcarsltd.com however JagTechOhio can do the same. . You can look on my page to see what is involved.
