Revving up in neutral at 2800, the engine stops for a quarter of a second, then resumes revving back to 2800, then repeats over and over.
No codes and no dashboard alarms.?????
Replaced both fuel pump several months ago, since then she has been running perfectly until this morning when the limited rpm thing showed up.

AND,

I have owned this beauty several months now, never having occasion to lock or unlock the doors with the key. Tried it today and found that the key cannot be inserted into the cylinder. Stops about a quarter of an inch in. Wondering if this has happened to other XKRs or someone stuck a tension bar in and broke it off???

I sure someone will correct if I'm wrong but in park or neutral the rev limiter will kick in and give you those exact symptoms. It is there to stop you over revving the engine and causing damage.
