Maybe a bit more detail would help Sam.
What exactly is or isn't happening?

Welcome to the forum!

You would get a lot more traffic over on the XK8/R forum but here are a couple thoughts from your limited information.

1.) Ensure that the battery is completely charged.

2.) Remove the negative cable from the battery and hold it to the positive post for a few seconds.

3.) Report any OBDII codes stored.

What codes are you getting? Suspension parts shouldn't throw a code.

When needing assistance, it's always best if you have the problem code(s) from a OBDII reader. These automobiles were ahead of their time when it comes to electronics.

...and if you don't have a code reader, most auto parts store will read the codes for free. Get the code numbers from them, come back here and post up the numbers.

You can also buy code readers pretty cheaply these days. I've seen code readers in auto parts stores for $60, and you can buy them on eBay for $40 or so.

Have you checked the inertia switch? Its on the left hand side when you open the door there where the fuses are located.

Sam,

I've merged your two threads as they are both for the same problem.

Ah! Excellent point! If the car was in a front end collision it is very likely that the inertia switch was tripped. It stops the flow of fuel so that there would be less likelihood of a fire.

This thread might help you locate your inertia switch.

Can anyone tell Samantha how to reset it if it is tripped?

Sorry should have added. On top is a button, yes press it in, and it will be deactivated (so ok).

Apparently it's in a different location on the 2003 and newer cars because I just looked at mine, and it isn't in the fuse compartment.

I think all steel bodied XKs have it in the same spot, are you looking in the right place?. Here is a picture, the black arrow shows the unit, and the red arrow shows where you need to push.

Can try to make a video of it ;-)

That’s odd/interesting; JTIS also mentions it is in that spot for a 2003 MY (but that one can be wrong). In the electrical diagrams (which is usually correct as far as I know), it is mentioned for your model year (and all older ones) to be “ADJACENT TO LH FASCIA FUSE BOX”.

If I recall correctly it is not at the fuse fox it is below and you need to remove the left hand kick panel, the one that is behind the hood release.

Not sure where to start on your problem. You say you replaced the ECM this TSB might apply http://jagrepair.com/images/TSB/XK8/...patibility.pdf It addresses a compatibility issue that might apply. I am also attaching this TSB addressing ECM Replacements http://jagrepair.com/images/TSB/TSB2...eplacement.pdf With the flashing lights and other things not working you should see if you can get the OBDII codes to see what direction you need to go into first. You may need to document what you have, clear them and read what comes up the next attempt to start. I had never worked on a car that was involved in an accident so I am not sure what things to check. Checking the inertia switch as suggested for the fuel is a good idea. It being activated will eliminate power to the pump by reenergizing the ignition relays in the engine compartment, drivers side fascia & trunk fuse boxes. It also removes the ground from the BPM. In short it stops the engine and fuel pumps, unlocks the doors, de-energizes all unnecessary electrical systems and this might be part of your problem. I hope this helps!

Nope... not there. That's the same problem the guy was having in the other thread. Everyone was saying it's right there, but it wasn't. Fortunately I'm not having a problem with mine.
