Sanity Check - don't inside lights time out?
Hi Guys,
Wanted to bounce a quick one off you if you don't mind. I thought the inside lights (i.e., Door left open) time out after 30 minutes or so to prevent battery drain. Is this true?
I ask because in a rush last night I left the driver's door open and was surprised to find the inside lights on this morning when I went to the garage. I had to hook her up to a charger for a couple of hours and all is well, but I don't want to operate under false assummptions. Isn't lights on / ignition off key not in ignition supposed to trigger a timer that shuts the lights off?
Either way, thank God I didn't start quizing my lady about why she was in the car this morning and left the door open (seemed like a logical conclusion for about a nano second - but then wisdom (aka: self preservation) kicked in and I tossed away that brilliant deduction/discussion)
.
Of course it could be murphy's law: "yes unless your battery is low John, then strange things like this can happen. . ".
Well please let me know what you remember about the timeout and inside lights with our cars. This surprised me. I swear I could remember a time out the time I worked to replace the window and had the door open for a hour plus.
Thanks,
John

You are correct John, they should time out but I think it should be less than 30 minutes.
I don't have my wiring diagrams available at the moment but I would start by doing some simple checks on the door switches, module connections and of course, the charge in the battery.

They do go out in just 2-3 minutes. I know this because I can never get those quick jobs done on the car in the garage at night before they dim and go off.
Usually when I've forgotten to turn on the overhead light and am on my back in the footwell.
