Default Saying goodbye and thanks

After 11 years with my 1998 XK8 conv. I finally had to let her go. Huge SUV's taking up line to line in the parking spaces, the big door on my XK8, and my bad knees, hips and back, made it close to impossible to get in or out of my car. I traded her in with 139K to the dealer and got a 2018 XE Portfolio for my wife. I now drive her old 2007 x-type with 125K. See some of you guys and girls over in that section. Many thanks to you members for helping keep my old girl on the road, especially Rev. Sam. With your help I was able to save many $$$$. Until we meet again.......

So long Bud. It's been good to know ya -----.

Rev.Sam. Now that's a name from the distant past in automotive forum time. He showed more than a few of us the way to "get out and get under".

By the way, we're the section of the forum a generation newer than the XK8, but I think most of still admire the XK8, and some have both.

I've moved your thread from XK/XKR to XK8/XKR forum.

Good to hear you're not leaving altogether, just moving model forums.

My friend,

One day in the future I would be taking the same path as you have chosen. Just remember the happy moments you've spent with your XK8 convertible forever... Cheers!

Wow, as I currently struggle with a slipped disk and wobbly knee, I hope I won't have to give up my XK8 coupe; I figured I'd bought it for life! If I do, the only replacement I could picture as a reasonable consolation prize would be the new XF Sportbrake. My hope is to eventually get a nice, used one of those to replace my wife's funky old Mercury Mystique and keep all my other toys.

Suffering a bad back last year I needed a fix and somehow managed to get into the XK8. After a very enjoyable run I almost had to get the Wife to rig up the engine crane to get me out and ended up on all fours crawling out. Quite a sight but it was worth it.
You might be back Pophen

Got a new hip in June. Hopefully, I'm good for another few years. Best wishes to you.

Sorry to see you go. My (new) hip continues to be a problem after two years, but driving my XK8 is better than Aleve (until I have to get out!
