Default Scan Tool Not Talking to ECM

Hi,
I haven't had a chance to fill out my signature yet. I have a 1997 XK8, conv. 4.0.

The problem I am having is I have used (2) different scan tools and neither will talk to the ECM. These are Snap On scan tools.

Has anyone else had this problem? I just installed a new battery. I had running pretty well, but it was surging and hard to start.

I don't want to continue to run it until I can get a scan/codes.

I would appreciate if anyone might be able to assist.
Thanks-Dan

Is the key in the RUN position?

Check the fuse for the permanent power to the Data Port.

Lots of information here: https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/x...nt-read-66366/

In addition to the advice above, make sure the protocol is set to ISO 9141. Some scanners do not detect protocol automatically.

I'm having a similar problem with an icarsoft i930. Unfortunately, there's no option to select protocol. Been emailing customer service, but my Mandarin is non-existent and their English is shaky!

My Torque Pro app seems to work perfectly, however, but only covers very limited parameters.
