Default Seat module interchangeability

I just found a seat module in a wrecker yard but the part # is LNC2160AD . They say that LNC2160AD is an interchange of LJE2160AB. Anybody have any insight on this ?

I recently purchased a replacement for my 2000 XK8 from ebay. Like you, I was hoping others would fit, but wasn't the case. The LNC2160AD is for the XJ8 and is a non-memory module. When I was searching, both Amazon and Ebay said it would not fit my car. I was hoping it would as these were cheaper. Ended up buying one on Ebay for $70.

don't need the memory one as its for the passenger side. If memory function is the only difference it will be fine , but I don't know if that's the case. Will yours work on your passenger side ? If so I can probably buy it from you if its the LNC2160AD

Jaguar issued a TECH TIP in March 2004 for the seat control modules.

Models – XK8/XKR 2001/2002 MY
Symptom: PECUS D or PECUS P warning after replacing seat modules
Information: After replacing one or both seat modules, a technician will see a PECUS message on the dash. When looking on the WDS, there will be no programming option for the seat modules. To repair a tech must locate a 2003-04 XK, install the seat module in that vehicle, and then program with WDS. The only side that can be programmed is the driver's side; therefore a passenger seat module must be placed in the driver's position and programmed. After programming install modules in original car, PECUS message should be gone.

And a TSB for Memory System Diagnosis.

The drivers seat module went bad on mine. I had reclined the seat and it would not go back up. I swapped the passengers seat module into the drivers seat in order to get it to go back up, which it did. I then ordered the replacement from Ebay and installed it on the passenger seat. I kept the old one as there are several posts on here that show you how to re-solder the broken circuits. I plan on doing that and keeping it as a spare.

All good info folks ...but can anybody provide insight on if the LNC2160AD module ( which is non memory ) will work on the passenger side of the XK8 as a substitute for the LJE2160AB?
The seat module on the passenger side of my car is missing entirely ( not damaged - missing ) and I can get a LNC2160AD quite cheaply. The supplier says that it suitable for teh passenger side but not for the drivers. This seems to make some sense because the passenger side is non-memory. I'm just trying to verify this

Barry, I would say the answer is NO. If you search for LNC2160AD on either Amazon or Ebay they will tell you that this module won't fit on the XK8. Check this listing on Amazon at the bottom of the page.
Amazon Amazon
I know they are cheaper then the ones for the XK8 and I was tempted myself to try it, but didn't want to end up with another piece of electronics that I have to recycle. Just "google" LJE2160AB, and you will find lots of them for sale from either parts houses or Ebay and Amazon. Most are under a $100.

I just looked. Amazon and several parts dealers all said the part is currently unavailable or stronger words to that effect.

I have been looking for several weeks and have found nothing other than vastly overpriced ones $500+ so I was delighted to find this supposed substitute. It's so cheap that I may buy it anyway and hope that it works ☺

Sorry Barry, I just saw this thread. Yes the LNC2160AD module will work for basic seat functions on the passenger side. I did this to my 2006 XK8. I bought the car with a bad driver's seat module (LJE2160AB). I switched the original passenger module to the driver's side and bought three modules off of a forum member here (LNC2160AD). I plugged the newly purchased module into the passenger side and the seat directional buttons work without programming. The only thing that does not work is the heated seat on the passenger side (it worked with the original module). It is unknown if any of the purchased modules came from a car that had heated seats. I'm normally the only person in the car so it didn't bother me not to have the passenger seat heater but you may want it. I even tried to reprogram it with IDS for kicks and giggles and it didn't change the heat function. I never did get a "PECUS" warning on my dash.

BTW I have a couple more tested and working seat modules (LNC2160AD) available if anyone is in need.

Here are two pictures with the cases cracked open. The jumpered module is my original module. I attempted to jumper it and apparently bridged an unintended line in the module and fried it. The un-jumpered module is the one I bought and installed. Interestingly enough the one I bought is marked in marker "XK8" and the seller was unsure where it came from. The other modules I bought with the same model numbers I was told came from a salvaged XJ8 (x308).

Thanks for the reply. My car is winter stored so heated seat is not an issue. How much do you want for a module and where are you located ? I'm on my phone so I don't see signatures on posts ☺

Idaho, about 3000 miles away. Shipping might be cost prohibitive as it looks like USPS charges $25 for an international flat rate there. You can have the module itself for $40.

I have a 2006, which is a different seat module than 2004 and earlier. The board look identical. When I put the non 06 module in I had no seat heater and no seat memory.

I can now confirm that a that LNC2160AD seat module is indeed interchangeable with LJE2160AB. The only difference is that it has no memory function. I just installed an LNC2160AD on my passenger's side and it works fine

Hey Chilly,
I know it has been a long time since you made this post, BUT would you by chance still have a; Drivers Side, Seat Memory Module (#LNC2160AB), fitting my 2004 XK8 Coupe?
My seat buttons still work fine (on the seat) but when using the Memory Buttons; the Seat, Steering Wheel and Mirrors go to a different location every time.
AND, would you be willing to sell it and ship to zip; 85118 (Arizona)???

Oh, BTW, when you moved the Module from the Passenger seat to the Drivers seat, did the Memory Function work there?
Sorry for all the questions.
Please let me know either way.

Have a Great weekend,
Thanks in advance, Jerry
