Default Seatbelt warning sign

When I turn the key to ignition the Seatbelt Warning sign is on and disappear when I start the engine, even though I or the passenger don't wear the seatbelt. Any ideas?
Thanks

Same here. Apparently the light is just a dummy light to remind you to put the seat belt on and has nothing to do with whether or not you actually latch the seat belt.

What they said..normal. Our cars are not new enough to be completely involved in the Nanny State yet.

On my 2003 XKR Convertible, I noticed that it would try to 'chime' when I inserted the key, no seat belt on, poked around the left side engine fuse box and found one of the tan resistors had come almost completely unseated, and would only 'chime' some of the time, the light on the dash works as you have stated. After re-seating the tan module, I get a very crisp and noticeable 'chime' from the steering wheel speaker, but only 3 'bongs' before it and the light turn off; the chime will stop, if you clasp your seat belt before it reaches the 3rd 'bong'. Most important is that it will leave you alone after that, I have ridden in vehicles that employ a range of alarms and lights, every few moments until the seat belt has been latched, driver's or passenger's; I am just glad that my car does not pester me like that, a touch of the accelerator is enough to remind me if I had been being oblivious to the fact that I did not fasten my seat belt.
