It gets better, just checked inside the remote they are maxcell batteries, went on ebay and got 5 for £1.75 plus free shipping. Jobs a good un. They will do for the replacement remote coming next week.

Hi Keith, thanks for the comments, just pleased it was so simple, probably spent over 10 hours believing the batteries were O.K as they were NEW! If only the gearbox problem could be solved this easily.

Oh no, I thought this was sorted? When I leave the car for a few days after it has been locked with the fob, on return the fob will not unlock the car, ie it is not recognised. I can reprogram again no problem, I'm a self confessed expert now, LOL's. Could this be the main car battery or something more sinister?

Many thanks for any advice.

Regards,

Arty

The programming is stored in non-volatile memory, so it should not matter that the battery is low, or even removed.

If it continues to happen, the SLM is suspect.

I should add that if the battery was so low that you had to charge it or jump start, then if it did not work immediately a hard reset should have brought it back to operational without reprogramming.

Thanks for he quick reply WhiteXKR, I was hoping it was NOT that fault!
It never rains but it pours, oh well onwards and sideways so they say.

Thanks again for taking the time to help.

Kind regards,

ArtyH
