Default Several codes on my new-to-me 2000 jaguar xk8

Hello, I'm Shawn from west Texas and this is my first post. I just purchased a beautiful 2000 jaguar xk8 4.2 litre v8 with 55,000 miles. Just days after making the purchase I had several codes pop up and today the car will not even turn over. These are the codes that appeared for the first time today and would not allow the engine to even turn over.
Transmission fault
Asc not available
Fail safe engine mode
Low brake fluid

The codes below came on the night I purchased the car.
Restricted performance
Check rear lights

Am I in serious trouble here or is this routine and nothing major. The car seems to be very well maintained and has averaged 3500 miles per year, but these codes are making me panic. Thanks for your input.

Shawn

Welcome to the forum Shawn, don't forget to post an intro in the new members section.

I'd start by checking the condition of your battery before doing anything else, numerous varied faults are often a symptom of the battery starting to fail.

Welcome Shawn. There are some Red Raider fans that should be along soon to help out. You should post the actual codes, versus the description, as this will make it easier to diagnose.

While you're waiting, it might be a good idea to check out your battery. A low battery will make these cars throw lots of codes and yours seem to be somewhat random. Anything below 12.4 is a suspect battery and needs to be charged or replaced.

p.s. if you have a 2000 model year it should be a 4.0L car. I doubt the engine was swapped as it is not a simple change, but stranger things have happened.

Default Thanks Mike

Mike, thanks for the input. I will have the battery tested tomorrow. You are correct, I have a 4 litre. I had the wrong info in my head. I think I did just post to the intro. Hopefully I didn't a screw that up

Welcome to the forum Shawn,

You did post your Intro correctly.

Regarding the DTC's. You should post the actual codes and not descriptions to get the best advice.
