Default Shock Conversion

Is a change from electronic front shocks in a 2000 XKR Convertible to Bilstein shocks a bad idea or otherwise contraindicated?
Not interested in paying the premium for OEM parts.

Thanks in advance.

OEM shocks for all the X100 cars are Bilstein. Xkr:s all have Bilsteins with adaptive damping while Xk8:s had non-adaptive dampers as standard and adaptive ones as optional. But all are Bilsteins

There is no issue to swap the CATS shocks for regular, but you will need to change all 4 and unplug the module in the boot to eliminate the warning light. If you only change the fronts then the rears will be forever stuck in "firm" mode.
