I am about to install the rocker covers on my 03 but have a question about placement.

The upper edge sits along the top of the rocker, nestling to the lip where the fender meets the rocker and running along the bottom of the door. Basically it follows the line made by that orange peely chip guard.

On the bottom there is a turned down part of the cover that I was expecting would lay against the pinch weld under the rocker but when the top edge is I the right place then the bottom flange is about 3/4" shy of the pinch weld.

For those of you that have this from the factory is that how it is supposed to be?

 

It is suppose to be close to the bottom sill edge rather than the top.... But..... I have always prefered to fit them higher to disguise the stone guard, the later cars never had the coating as they had the sill covers

These were not the highest quality parts to begin with and took some filling and blocking to smooth out before they were painted so I was starting to wonder if they were defective all around and just not the right shape.

I think I will go with your method and affix them along the top of the unsightly stone guard.
