Sidelights Not Working
After an 18 month lay up I am trying to get my 1997 XK8 Convertible back on the road but I am having problems with the front sidelights. When I switch on the sidelights the rear tail lights, the dash lights and the green telltale light on the instrument cluster all illuminate as expected, however the front sidelights only illuminate for a fraction of a second and then turn off. So far I have checked out the battery (it is relatively new and is holding 13.1V at the terminals), continuity to ground at the bulb holders (seems fine), checked for codes (nothing reported) and carried out a couple of hard resets - all to no avail. I am thinking I may have a faulty BPM but wanted to check with the forum to see if anyone has any other ideas on what might be causing the problem before I dive in to trying to source a replacement BPM. Any help/advice gratefully received.
You should really check for a short to ground somewhere on the wire from the BPM to the lights before replacing the BPM, or you may just get the same problem. Damaged wire or water intrusion somewhere?
