Default Slow start

I purchased a 1999 xk8 in January 23 noticed always two or three turns of ignition to start, runs fine. Believe with fuel injector you are not supposed to depress accelerator or pump before starting, is this correct. Or Is it normal for the couple ignition turns before engine starts. Thanks in advance for advice.

You mean you hit the key ,it cranks but does not start. Hit it again same thing .third time it starts ..?? OK is that right ? Its not right should start straight up.
what if you turn on ignition ..wait 5 seconds and try to start it......I am suspicious its not building fuel pressure fast enough ..blocked fuel filter..bad pump (easy cheap to change)
Pumping the accelerator is not appropriate to a fuel injection system .it applies to carb engines but would basically do nothing,

Turn on the ignition, without cranking, for a few second, repeat two or three times before you attempt to start. Did it start quicker? Then you have issues with fuel pressure as Pistnbroke says.
Fuel filter is often neglected on older cars and should be the first to service. These Jaguars are known for failing fuel pumps (do to age and ethanol content in fuel), but normally they either work or dies completely.
Keep the foot of the accelerator until its running.

sounds like the back flow valve at pump is defective. fuel drains back into tank. fuel pump has that part included.
