Hi all,
Quick question, Are 1997 XK8 A26 and 1998 XJ8 A26 totally interchangeable? If not what needs to be changed?

When I replaced my blown engine in 2021 I was told you can. Check out my thread called Engine replacement and my related threads for more info and the discussion.

 

Actually, If you really want to get down to the basics, any 4.0 engine can be made to work.(lots of parts need to be kept,changed,replaced)

I put a 2000 AJ28 BLOCK (S-Type) with AJ27 heads and oil pan parts in a 2000 XJ8.

The BLOCKS are mostly the same but heads and sump parts are 'model-specific'.
