Default SoftTop's "Green Leaky Monster" Issue's Cause ?

I realize this is the best place for a Poll; However, I'd like to read a discussion.

Do we think its the Fluid turning to gel OR just crappy lines/seals that causes the issue here ?
I have an 04 ~ and have heard no need to flush the system, but then I read folks with later models having issues. I realize, I could just do it and put behind me, but I hate to spend the money/time to flush the system and have the line burst anyway.

Discuss !

I vote for line failure. More specifically, lines at the top, near the latch, where heat from the sun get to them and make them brittle.

If it were me...well, i don't know if id spend the cash now to replace the lines or wait for the green shower. I'd toss a coin to decide.

Hydraulic systems oil viscosity is not a contributing factor to why a line will fail. You can flush the system 20 times or not and its not going to change a potential of line failure. Brittle hoses, chaffing of hoses, improperly crimped hoses, cracked hoses, flexural stress etc is why they fail.

I would only spend time and money to flush if I had reason to believe there were large contaminants or water in the oil. Large contaminates could obstruct said lines or cylinders and render system inoperable and water of course will rust internal components having same ultimate affect.

I will wait til my spews.
My 3 cents.

There is a positive side to the top latch hose failure. The Pentosin CHF 11s is an organic (synthetic) oil that cleans up fairly easily and does not leave stains or smell. Thank you Jaguar.
