Hi,

I'm going to be installing a new sound system in my 97 XK8 ragtop. I won't be using the car's original wiring except for the power wires to the deck in the dash. I'll be running a variety of wiring and cables underneath the center console to the two new amps in the trunk and back again. The only thing I don't know in advance is what's going on in the space where the top fits down into.

Has anybody else run wiring through there for their sound system? I'll be putting new subwoofers in the side panels in the back seat. Is there a way to route the cables through either side to the trunk without arguing with the top and it's mechanisms when it's down? Or should I just run them all straight through? Is there enough space for them under the top?

If someone's done this before and happened to take photos of what that section of the car is like, I would be grateful if you posted them. I always like to see what's going on in advance before I start tearing things apart.

I would run wiring through the same area that the main harness and hydraulic lines run.

Alright. Sounds like a plan. Where are those located?

 

The conv top hydraulics are located in the right rear boot area near the radio ant.
Follow the hydraulic lines forward and you will see them pass next to the fuel tank into the cabin behind the right subwoofer assy.

Hi. You wouldn't happen to have pictures of this location? I have removed the seat cushion and loosened the seat squab but I don't see where I can push though an RCA size plug. 2005 XK8 Convertible.
