Default Speed bump clunk

Ever since I've had my 98 XK8, there has been a persistent clunk when going over speed bumps or pot holes. The noise was metallic sounding, and I could feel it close to my driver side foot well. After researching the issue, I had found Rev Sam's video on sway bar bushings. I ordered a set from Car Quest ($20/pair original Jag parts) and was able to install them both within 1 hour. I did not have to jack up the car. I long crow bar gave me enough leverage to slide the new bushings in. Turned out that my driver side bushing was non-existent, no rubber was there, passenger side was well worn. After install, no more clunks. $20 investment in the car makes for a dramatic improvement to ride quality and annoying clunking that sounded like the car was going to fall apart. I wish all part installation paid such rewards. Thanks Rev Sam for the video and Jaguar Forums for all of the support!

Classic symptom indeed, glad you solved that one yourself! It does loads for a DIYers confidence in tackling the next diagnosis.

see the FAQ thread, and scroll all the way to the bottom, sam's got his own area dedicated to his videos.

I'm surprised after 2 years you haven't seen the FAQ thread...and here I put in all that work. (guilt trip applied)
