Default Stall after filling gas tank

I've had this happen twice in the past couple weeks.

On each occasion, I would fill up (or come close to filling), drive home from the gas station about 3-5 miles... Put car in garage.
I'd come back about an hour later, start car and it would stall immediately.

I would hear a "gurgling sound" from the gas tank, open the fuel cap, put it back on and start up without incident.

The tank sounds as if it's displacing air.

First instinct would be faulty gas cap, but I would prefer to hear if anyone experienced this.

It's been possibly reported before. Something about admitting air in the tank in replacement for the fuel being used. If somehow it does not admit air in anymore, a vacuum develops and the fuel pressure cannot be maintained. Some have reported that it can go as far as the tank caving in under atmospheric pressure. You might want to search. From memory, it was about a hose/valve/whatever in the vicinity of the fuel filler neck.

Best of luck, keep us posted.

The stalling is most likely caused by a bad fuel purge valve. Below is a link for some help with replacing it.

Just spoke to previous owner. He's owned the car for 15 years and says he never changed fuel filter..
