Hi Stu, You are most welcome. I hope it helps. It was something of a pain. Caution your mechanic regarding how easy it is to break the little tabs on the steering column between the dash and wheel. Good luck! Regards, Ken

Does anyone have a working link for this PDF guide? I have one stuttering/unreliable reach mechanism i need to fix and would love to see the write-up.

I can re-host through google drive if that's useful.

Hi Can you send me this file or post it where it can be viewed. The link you have given is full of virus threats etc and seems the file is no longer available in that location Thanks

I don't know who you are asking, but the file is right there in the post above yours, virus free and hosted on this forum..

Greetings,

It has been a really long time since I have visited this forum and don't really remember how it works.

Did everyone who was looking for my steering column repair document get what they needed?

Ken

Thanks Yes I see it now. Perhaps you could remove or arrange to move the link to the file given in the first post of this thread. mediafire something. It is highly contaminated and loaded my browser with pop ups it took a lot of effort to remove

Your write-up is excellent and has provided me with the courage to address the "cash register" reach sound and intermittent rake motion on my 1997 XK8. I have ordered a HJA9261AE from eBay that will hopefully be mostly working for what I need. Any words to the wise other than your excellent paper ?

Greetings, I did that work and wrote my little article several years ago. I seriously doubt I have anything of value to add. Of course, I encourage to take your time and try to remain calm. A couple of times I had trouble remaining calm. Actually, my Jag so totally pissed me off a few years ago it hasn't left the garage in a very long time. Wishing you the very best luck and results! Regards, Ken
