Default Step Like Shadow Pattern From Xenon Headlights

Hi all,
Tried search function and got close but couldn't find duplicate problem.
'06 XK8, new to me has, a weird shadow pattern where the lights meet the road. Both headlights have a step like pattern. High on the left with a lower shadow on right. I first thought the light was obstructed by the car but if that were the case the patterns would be mirrored instead of the same. I tried the up and down adjustment but it only raised or lowered the same step pattern. Any Ideas would be appreciated.
Thanks,
2ndxk8

its normal light refraction through the projector lenses. Also the shield to give the upper cut off is actually on the bottom not the top. Just like our eyes actually see images upside down, and then our brains flips it

Welcome to the Forum 2nd!

Plenty of help here on how to stay out of trouble or get out when it is too late to stay out of it.

I have the same issue made more dramatic by the fact that I have a UK, right hand drive car in Europe....depending on the market the cut off and angles are set to give the shoulder side of the road a much higher cut off and angle.

The consequence is that that the driver's side head light is much much lower in the cut off and in my case is nearly useless for illuminating the lane directly in front of the car....even though like you, just last week, I tried adjusting them as high as I thought would be safe.

I may just have to crank them up even higher and get the inevitable flashes from on coming traffic.

good luck with it since it seems we are stuck with the cut off being a bit too low.

cheers,

jj

Thanks for the responses. I guess I will just have to get used to it.
JJ, It must be nice owning an XKR in Switzerland. I get to Zurich several times each year and love it there. Last winter I took a train ride to Lucerne.
Beautiful country. I would love to be there with a week off and a motorcycle.
Bests,

2nd;

Come on by, just got the bike back from the shop last week, new clutch, oil, filter, valves adjusted, shocks adjusted, brakes redone, new battery, new tires....the works.

Cost more than the bike did when I bought it five years ago.

We are right on the front range of the French Alps over looking Lake Geneva...Mt. Blanc is essentially in our back yard over the first ridge behind the house....only 40 minutes away.

NC is a nice place to cruise around in too....Cape Hatteras is one of my favorite drives in the world. Charlotte is great for Jazz clubs.

Beach Boys songs here, "I get around, I get around".....seems like you do too.

cheers,

jj
