Default Strange doorlatch/window problem.

Hi all.

Could not close drivers door because window didn't go down. Tested window.
Would not move, stuck in up position.

Closed latch in door manually and tried to lock the car. Locks cycled four times and stayed unlocked.

Suspected the infamous microswitch in latch, but the drivers door open message worked.

Took out latch, inspected and cleaned all three microswitches. No help.

Swapped drivers door module and passengers door module and voila, everything worked ok. Put all back together, and same fault came back again.

Examined electrical diagrams carefully and found out that door latch control and window control share the same ground.

Opened round connector between door and car, sprayed a little electrical cleaner, and put all back together. Hurray, everything working normally. (So far)

I am also going to examine/clean all connectors, fuses, ground and relays in the left hand facia electrical junction box. This is where all the cables from the door end up.

Good catch. You have been busy!

I wonder if the door harnesses will eventually show similar problems to the luggage compartment harness where cables break with regular flexing from opening and closing .........
