Default Strange rear quarter window issue on 2002 XKR Convertible

I have an XKR convertible from 2002 which worked fine so far. Yesterday, when opening the top, the passenger side rear quarter window opened as usual, but the driver side rear quarter window did not open at all. The top opened properly without a Problem. I did not realize any unnormal noise from the quarter window area, and not when I closed the top last time. So I hope there is no mess with the regulator (wires broken or so). I also do not hear any motor sound from this area when opening the top. The window just stays upright.
I already disconnected the battery and did a hard reset (connecting both poles for a while), which did not help. Would one of you may have a clue what might be the reason of the fault? So far I did not check the fuse as all other windows work fine and did not check any connectors as I do not know where they are. And I did not check any relays if there are some as I do not know where they are and how to check. Can anyone of you help to find the reason? Thanks a lot!

You can remove the rear seat (bottom and top) to access the connector. I suppose it could have become disconnected, but seems unlikely.

If the regulator cable broke then you can usually push/pull the window down/up manually, though maybe not all the way. If it moves much at all then the regulator is likely in need of repair or replace depending on your DIY abilities.

Before you start tearing things apart, I would go for the relays. In the boot fuse box there is a pair of window up and window down relays as well as a pair of top up top down relays. Swap the window up and window down relays and see if the window works. If so simply replace the bad relay.

Default Rear window relays

+1 to avern1

Here's the Fuse Box with the relays in the trunk, plus there's a Youtube video showing someone "jumping" the relays. Link below.

If that doesn't work, then you need to check power to the window motor regulator and that means tear down of the rear interior.

BTW, probably best not to operate the top as if the rear window is up, the motion of the convertible top will damage the top rubber seals of the rear window if it's up all the time.

Let us know what you find and I'm sure we, and the follow forum members, can sort it. We've all had this problem.

Thumbs up Problem solved

Hi rothwell, avern1 and DavidYau,
the hint with the relays was a hit. Thanks a lot to all of you helping me to solve this issue so quickly. I just hope that there is not a electrical or mechanical reason for the the relay getting broke. Wishing you all the best from Germany,
Oliver

Glad to hear you got it resolved. Don't overthink the relays, they are electric coils and they do fail for no apparent reason.
