Default Stripes on an XK8???

I'm thinking about adding a wide racing stripe down the middle of my 2002 XK8 but I can't find any pics of one that's been done, other than a full British flag.

My car is totally blacked out, wheels, grille, even a piano black leaper (don't worry, no holes were drilled, I modified a leaper and used 3m badge tape!)

I'm thinking about a wide flat black with thin outer border stripes in flat black as well. It would go from front to back, all the way to the lower bumper.

If I do this, I'll definitely remove the arden power bulges, also held on with 3m tape.

Will it read correctly with the hood bulge in the middle?

Just do it with a wrap, if you don't like it peel it away.

The central stripes don't look too bad, though I still wouldn't do it. The 2 red flashes on the wings scream either "I had 4 bits of red vinyl lying around in the garage and didn't know what to do with them", or - worse still - "I had a couple of scratches on my wings and couldn't be bothered to get them professionally repaired".

As usual, I searched for an hour and never found these images!!
Was hoping to find something on black but this did answer another question, what about two stripes?
I definitely want the stripes to be flat black on my black car. Don't want them to really stand out, just be subtle. And I'll definitely use wrap stripes as well.

A buddy saw the British flag XK8 and said I should do that in flat black on gloss black car. Now that would be AMAZING!!!!

The the red stripes. Looks too Mini Cooper. But the double stripes in flat black on my car could be hot. Can always rip,the off if I hate them!! Just put stripes on my miata project car so I'm getting good at installing them.

+1 with Graham.

Have you considered doing the below the belt line in flat? All the way around the car.

But really, you got the bad boy look down pat now. Why mess with something that works?

In my ever so humble opinion, it is too much. The "murdered out" look is one genre, and racing stripes are another. Merging two distinct genres would clash and offend the senses.

+1 As it happens, I have spent much of the day on the phone to Ford, who are due to build my new Transit Sport van next week. I recently found out the 2014 model gets 'racing stripes' as standard and I've been trying to persuade them not to put them on my van

That central flat black stripe of the XK8 above instantly brings back images of things I saw on the beach earlier today.

And some really should not have been allowed out in public.

I would however remove any bits stuck on with tape.

I'm glad to see a mock up as now I probably WILL re think the stripes. I was thinking a bit more narrow stripe with very narrow side stripes but this is close enough.
I actually think I prefer the double stripes on the silver car.one things do have is a windshield stripe I had made but never installed. It's black and has J A G U A R cut out with opposing leapers on each side. About 4" wide and goes at the roofline on glass. I may just use it even though I made it for my XF.

As for the stuck on humps, I'm waiting to find an XKR hood. They're actually really hard to find. I WANT real vents!!!
