Default Stuck Wheels

2000 XK8 - Trying to do a tire rotation and ALL 4 wheels are stuck to the hubs. Aluminum vs. Cast vs. long time removal I presume. Any ideas on how to get them off short of a flaming wrench appreciated.

Lots of this, B'laster's PB Penetrating Catalyst - Best penetrant and rust inhibitor and soaking time. Then a heavy rubber mallet to the wheels from the back side. Start a couple of lug nuts before using the mallet, when the wheels come loose they can go flying.

Loosen the lug nuts a few turns and go for a (fairly gentle) drive for a couple of miles.

When you get them apart be sure and smear some anti seize on both surfaces before going back together. A good wire brushing before applying would be in order.
If you thing the wheels are stuck, wait till you try the rotors. Get a three prong puller of about 10 or 12 inches and you still will have to bang like heck on the rotor and puller stud.

Usually 2 turns and rock the car side to side will break them free. Worked for me.

Let me throw out an idea for comments. I learned this on the highway breakdown lane once. I stopped to assist a lady who had a flat tire. We jacked the car, took off the lug nuts but the wheel was frozen to the tire. I was stumped.

Just then the highway patrol to assist disabled motorists arrived. The driver came over and just said "watch this". He sat down facing the wheel/tire and extened his left leg to the left side if the tire, his right leg to the right. He just kicked with the soles of his shoes into the tire left right left it came free and just popped right off.

Well I'm probably too late to help on this one, but file the story away - it may help you someday.
