On the subject of Color.....
So in my quest to find my first XK8 I have seen some really nice colors. I saw one 2002 that was just an incredible blue.
Any way, have held out hoping to find a 2003,4,5 model due to the upgrades after 2002 and found a mint 2003 with very low mileage and priced right. Just one concern, it's white.
Years ago I had white mazda Rx-7 and loved that car; about 20 years ago, so maybe i'm just over-thinking this; but isn't "White" more of a "Chic" car?
Your thoughts?
Here's a pic.

Some cars look better/more masculine in white that others. The C5 and C6 Corvettes and most BMW's look great in white IMO, while the Maserati Gran Turismo and early Accura NSX's don't show their lines as well in white as they do in other colors. The early Mitsibushi 3000GT's looked great in white as well.
A white car will show the gaps between the body panels more than a darker one, which can detract from the effect the design offers the eye. However, a white car will appear cleaner and not show chips and scratches as much as a darker car, which is why a black or other dark finish has to be well maintained to be clean looking.

The cops love my RED car! Maybe blending in is better! White is not good for snow or fog visibility. I've had two white vehicles and found them to actually look cleanest the longest. So, just my two cents.
I think the white looks great. Sort of regal. If you like it get it.
It does not make the car look like a chick car.

You guys know where I stand on this subject
"Incredibly beautiful" is a typical reaction to the car. Also less than 2% of production was white. The 'onyx white' Jaguar started shipping in 2001 has great richness and depth....more pleasing to my eye than the earlier 'spindrift white.'
BTW, this is the only white car I have ever owned.

Chic car? All my work trucks are white, I've always felt a white car was like the old cowboy with the white horse, the "Good Guy". I read somewhere a few years ago that people are more receptive to white cars, and uniforms it makes feel more at ease than the color black.
I haven't seen the car in person yet. This is a long distant transaction but feel comfortable and taking proper steps to have it check out.
When referred to as "Onyx White", this implies it may look a bit different in person than from the picture. I know that blue 2002 I referenced looked far better in-person, so perhaps it's a particularly nice white that the pictures can't convey; just wondering.
I wasn't concerned over what others think; just the first white Jag I've seen and sharing my initial concerns/impressions, but they are skewed due to the other amazing looking colors these cars have as options.
It's really nice and it's the year, miles, price & condition I've been looking for. Just wanted to know your thoughts.
Thanks folks. This forum is great. Will let you know the outcome.
Cheers

You can dramatically change the personality of this car by fitting it with a set of wide 20" rims (ala BBS) with the center webbing painted white and the exposed outer rim polished in silver. I've seen one done up this way. Suddenly, it looks stronger and more refined.
As it sits, it does strike me as a bit of lady car, a very sexy lady.

Around here (Atlanta) I see lots of XK8/XKRs. Seems like two types of drivers. Either distinguished looking men middle age or a little older (like me), or good looking MILFs. I think this car could make anyone look great.

I am biased as white is my favorite. What I like about white is it always looks clean unless it becomes realy dirty. My white Camaro can sit in the garage for weeks and still looks good. My red Jag if not covered looks dirty in a couple of days. Go for white. you won't be sorry.
Here in southern Spain, there are quite a lot of white cars - I guess it helps keep the cars cooler in the hot sun. It wouldn't be my first choice, but as others have said, if you like the way the car looks in that colour, then don't worry what anyone else thinks.
RJag, I made a deal on a black XKR recently, but it fell through. Condition of the paint was one issue. I might condider another black car one day because they do look fantastic when they're kept right. I'd like to know from someone who knows what's involved. Do you find it's necessary to do chip and scratch touch ups occasionaly or frequently to keep it looking right? Techniques that you use? Thanks!

That said...
I wash the car frequently. I apply Meguiar's NXT every few weeks. Amazingly easy to use. The car looks stunning. Sort of makes the hassle worth it. Oh yeah, part of the hassle is summers in Atlanta with a black car. But hey, the air conditioner is amazing.
It is a daily driver. It has some paint chips on the front. They are not too visible. I am not going to touch them up. No big deal.

I second the motion on this one. I have had 3 other white cars in my life a 1970 Roadrunner, 1979 Toyota Supra, 1990 Maxima. Four very different types of car but they all looked great in white and did not show the dirt or even minor dings as much as a dark color.
When I was searching for a used XK8/XKR these are rare enough in general so you have to take what you find. I really wanted a white one but came across only one of these over the time I was looking. Almost bought it but timing wasn't quite right. A shame since in my opinion these cars look best in white with the tan top/interior.
