On the subject of Color.....
I've done poorly on some of them but the best technique is to use a toothpick and smear the paint into the chip so that you don't create a lip or ridge around it. If it's big, a couple of coats will do then do the same with clearcoat. It's never perfect but if your eye sees no ridges or lips on the touch-up, it will forgive a lot.
The other thing you might try is a product called Langka. I discovered this several years ago when others on another forum were asking what to do about paint chips on their cars. You basically overfill the chip and then let it dry (at least an hour) and then use a soft cloth to apply the Langka which basically smooths down ONLY the touchup paint so that you end up with a flat surface. I found that this worked really well on my wife's car that has a dark metallic paint and it also worked okay on my old Corvette that had a solid red paint.

I haven't tried it, but some time back someone else on this forum recommended this product.
How It Works: Simple 2-step touch up paint kit repair - Dr. ColorChip: Automotive Paint Chip Repair Systems
I only had two or three very small chips, and I just went old school and used what I have used for the last 30 years, which is the touch up paint from the dealer and then some polishing compound after it dried. If I had a lot of chips to cover over a large area, I'd probably opt for one of these products.

I have bought and sold 50+ cars and have a strong opinion here. Def wait for the blue color that you fell for. You will likely regret the commitment if you don't get the one you really felt
, esp when you see that blue again on the road.
wait for the one you loved the best!!!!!

Haaaaah! Looks like British Racing Green is the official Chic color
JAGUAR XK8 REMOTE CONTROL SPORTS CAR for BARBIE DOLL | eBay
.
When I first saw an XKE it was British Racing Green. Loved the color. My first new car was a Hunter Green (very similar to BRG)69 Road Runner (beep beep). 4 years ago I found my BRG 98 XK8 and had to buy it. Over paid a few $$$. Had a few white cars and yes they are easier to take care of and don't show the dirt, but a dark XK especially at night, nothing better. Jack
You guys know where I stand on this subject
"Incredibly beautiful" is a typical reaction to the car. Also less than 2% of production was white. The 'onyx white' Jaguar started shipping in 2001 has great richness and depth....more pleasing to my eye than the earlier 'spindrift white.'
BTW, this is the only white car I have ever owned.

RJag, I made a deal on a black XKR recently, but it fell through. Condition of the paint was one issue. I might condider another black car one day because they do look fantastic when they're kept right. I'd like to know from someone who knows what's involved. Do you find it's necessary to do chip and scratch touch ups occasionaly or frequently to keep it looking right? Techniques that you use? Thanks!
I know I'm chiming in a bit late on the original question in regard to colors, but I wanted to ask - I've got a color that I have not seen before, as apparently it was a special order color from the factory back in 99. It's a light moss green with tan top. It's the only one that I've seen, but figure there are others out there. It's in the shop right now, but I'll post a picture next week when I get it back and washed. Anyone familiar with the actual name of the color, and/or it's rarity?

Jaguar parts for XJ6, XJ12, XJS, XJ40, Stype, Xtype, XJ8, XJ
Thanks for the link on the chart - WOW, a ton of colors I've never seen. Mine looks like the Alpine Pearl Clearcoat. I will take pics and check the paint code next week. It's the only one I've seen, and the car was originally special-ordered by Jack Kemp (ex Rams QB and served on U.S. House of Representatives). It's an interesting combo with the tan top as well.
While I'm not sure I've ever seen an XK8 in this color, Jaguar did send a fair amount of XJs in a light green color called Seafrost to the US in the early 2000s.
I always thought it looked like the color of money...

Debbie, I believe that your car is 'Carnival Red'.
No my red is not a deep red so it must be Phoenix.....now I have to go change my signature again!
Found a webpage that lists the names of the colors according to their codes.
(someone else posted a similar link but it didn't work for me)
