Default Successful re-program/ flash 2005 XK8 ECU

I was able to successfully re-program my 2005 XK8 ECU, using SDD V130 and cable from British Diagnostics . The reason I need to re-flash the ECM was due it being in the limp home mode with two DTCs. The DTC were P0603 Internal Control Module Keep Alive Memory (KAM) Error and P0607 ECM fault. The first two attempts to re-flash the ECM resulted in failed to program message from SDD after about 3 minutes and the "PECUS E" message appeared on the dash readout. Before the third attempt I removed the battery cables and touched the battery cables together for 10 seconds (as suggested by others on JF). The third and successful attempt took about 30 min to complete. SDD at the end asked for VIN number to be entered (but stated VID Block not written…I guess because it was the same?). SDD also asked for minor configuration items e.g. power mirrors, seats. On completion the car operates normally again. By the way I did have a battery charger connected during the re-flash operation.

Good to hear it was a success. I admire your bravery.

Graham -I was pleased it worked. But maybe not so brave as I had on hand a spare used ECU (extracted from same year xk8) that I got from LKQ. I also talked to two local independent Jag only garages that said they would be able to swap in the used ECU. So I figured I little to lose if it did not work.
