Sun roof problem opening

The sunroof can only open when it is given some manual assistance. It sounds like the motor is training.
What can be the probem?

You have posted in XK8/XKR forum for 1996-2006 models but your profile shows you have a 2010 XKR. None of these vehicles have a sunroof. Do you mean a convertible top?
