Suspension Fault (yet another pain)
So I put the struts on, all was well. Last step plug in the cable at the top of the shock. Start the car, Suspension fault. Rides great, looks great, all parts were correct. All I did was carefully remove the plug and carefully reinstall the plug onto the new shock. Nothing in the hole, all clear. I'm bummed out. Any tricks or tips? I'm sure I did absolutely nothing wrong. The car had no errors when I turned it off and started the job.

Ok I've calmed down. It's about 100 in my driveway. So I troubleshooted with meter and old shocks. The passenger shock is open or bad. When I plug the old shock into that plug the fault goes out. SO PISSED. Now I need a new shock and total disassemble. Sorry for the forum panic button, I was just hot and wanted to sit in the A/C.

Thx John. LMAO I will be faster this time around. I think I’ll wait now due to the week of heat we are getting. My only tip, lay the new shocks in the engine close to the plug. Plug in the new shocks to see if they work 😡. I can’t win the lottery but out of a million shocks for Jaguar, I get a bad one. It’s just a test 😁

Sorry for all the extra work. I hate it when a faulty part right out of the box causes this kind of suffering. Who is your shocks supplier? Let's hope their replacement process is easy and streamlined....
I try to get OEM parts from Cherry Hill. They usually treat me right. The stinky part about getting Jaguar supplies is I live down on the beach and there is no Jaguar dealers near here. Holman Jaguar pulled out after the economy and casino collapse here. My closest is over an hour away up 73 which is a true pain. This is a live and learn moment as I could have avoided it. But you get that Christmas morning feeling and mentally skip checks.
Also, since we are on this subject, I have been searching and can't find the nyloc shock upper mount nuts, and I could use a new large 17mm for holding the strut together. That nut is elongated and looks like a special. The Suspension plug sits on top.
There are several trustworthy suppliers for the Bilstein shocks. For my wife's 2006 XK8, I ordered from fcpeuro.com. Great pricing, free shipping that typically gets here in just a couple of days, and good customer service....
