Default Suspension gurus--- Castor question

Hey

I have a 99 XKR with lowered springs, and poly bushes all round. It is on 19 inch alloys and P Zeros- new..

Whilst fitting the tyres I had the suspension set up.

Turns out that all is ok except the castor.

Car drives nicely but is a little to light on the from end for my liking and I think its the castor... Turns in VERY quickly...

Camber has been adjusted so that it is just in spec both sides, toe is spot on, that was very bad before... but my castor is as follows:

Front left 5 degs 58 min

Front Right 6 degs 02 min

In order to adjust this back to normal, do I move shims from the front of the arm to the back?

I think in upgrading to the poly bushes the settings will have changed.. Actually, I know they did as I did the work myself and I can't remember how many shims went front of the arm to the back..

I am hoping that this will ease the very lively front end..

Anyone tried this themselves? Hopefully they have.

Thanks...

Increasing positive caster results in heavier steering. So if you move a shim from the rear to the front that should help.

RJ is correct. You want to move shims from the back to the front to increase the negative castor. It will make the car a lot less nervous.

Hey

Thank you for that.

Any comments on the current caster settings? They don't seem to be too far off which is the worry.

That's one thing I haven't paid attention to. If you have the alignment checked after moving a spacer, please come back with the numbers and the difference in feel.
