Thanks, I tried that but took the option of using the "link to this photo" then copy and pasted that link into the insert link dialog box.

Oh well, I'll get it on the next try...

Thank you very much for the tutorial H2O boy. I'm on the same job myself in a couple of weeks. Also appreciate the info and pics from everyone else.

Default Finally installed... first impressions

I have finally gotten these busings installed on my '99 XJR. Given the response I would get on very rough worn freeway concrete, I suspected that my sway bar bushings were worn out... after changing them and inspecting the OEM models I removed they were not noticably worn. Outside of being dirty they looked great. I just took it out for it's first drive about 18 miles on my country back roads near my home. The steering is noticably stiffer (a side effect I didn't expect), faint clunking and transmission through the steering wheel has been noticably reduced. Given my suspension is the sport suspension, I appreciate the change that I have seen to this point.

I will provide an update when I put a few days behind the wheel over my normal freeway route where I encounter all the normal trouble spots. After looking at the end links, I'm thinking they need to be replaced as well. I'll look for that as my next project in a couple months before the rain and cold really set in!

I took a good look at mine yesterday, well as good as you can without removing them and they look good also, I felt around and they rubberand did not seem to crumble. I guess it is hit or miss. I will be curious if you think you made a substantial improvement. Cheap upgrade if you like them

How long did the process take.

Scott,

It took me over an hour, but I'm nursing a very sore shoulder from a motorcycle accident! The upper bolts are hard to get at with the interferance of the hoses. I didn't take off the splash pan, and I think the instructions indicate that you should, so I probably slowed myself down a bit.

I think the OEM's were still worn, just because they looked good, that doesn't mean that the bar wasn't still moving too freely in them. Ultimately, I think that the poly bushings are performing well. I just made the same 18 mile trip and am still feeling the same improvement. Whether or not the poly's are better than the OEM, I think that is ultimately personal preference. I like the stiffer ride of the sport suspension so the poly isn't offensive but others may prefer the OEM's.

I'll report back after my commute tomorrow.

What is the model number on the powerflex, maybe I should just do them since I have it up on jacks waiting for my suspension mounts.

Jaguar XJ8/R/SPORT ( - 2003) Urethane Bushings
5 - Front Anti Roll Bar Mounting Bushing (33mm) PFF27-305-33 x21$45.99

Scott, these are for a XJR, I see that your signature shows you have the XK8, which is why we are in the XK8 / XKR forum :-) Here is a link to the ones for your model.

PFF27-205-25 x2Powerflex Urethane Suspension Bushings$49.99

They come from Europe, I think they took a couple of weeks to get to me. I lost track of the time as I was caught up with a bunch of other things and I didn't care when they showed up.

You haven't got 10 forum posts yet so may not be able to run the link to Polybush USA in Post 29 on this thread? If not, copy and paste it into a new browser window.

The Polybush part number for rear anti-roll bar is PFR27-208-17

Does not look like power flex do bushings for the 2004> XJR I need some front sway bar bushings. Anyone know a good source for these and other parts for the X350 cars.

No luck at NAPA or Jag repair. I am going to look into if the sway bar bushings are the same as the S type R, does anyone know if the 2004 XJR sway bar is 31mm size or the 34mm would think it is the 34mm. Will prob end up getting these from the UK.

Thanks for the links, i actually am talking bout the rubber grommet like bushings at the end conntion of the sway bar to the lower A-arm.

One bushing has a crack in it, dealer wanted quite a few bucks so i bought the oem parts for both sides.

Question of the day is it appears to be under tension and would rather not have it smack me in the face when I loosen bolt to slip new bushing in.

Is there a method that avoids this (ramp under wheels, jack up body on both sides, wheels on groujd, etc.).

Seems to be rather simple task for the money that was requested. Am i missing something?

Thanks again for the response, the busings are cool, I may upgrade.

I do not know the amount of tension on the bar but safety is a factor. Many will go under the car with car stands I am one that is not in favor of that. My suggestion is to see if you can find a local shop that has a lift and is willing to work with you on this.
