Default Tall guys...

Have any of my taller brethren relocated, or considered relocating, their rear-view mirror to the space on the header trim between the visors and occupied by the hex key access plug? I have been enjoying the lack of my vision-occluding mirror while it was being repaired and really am contemplating figuring on how to best go about moving it. I am so sick of having to duck my head to look under and past the mirror in almost every vehicle I've owned for the past forty years.

So this is not just a spur of the moment idea!

I'm not sure you could adjust the mirror into a position to see much of anything if you put it up that high. I do know the mirror seems to be in a particularly bad spot on these cars if you are tall (I'm 6'8") and once or twice I've almost hit a car that was pulling from a stop sign and completely in my blind spot behind the mirror. You might want to test the mirror in this spot to see if you can even see anything with it there. Obviously do it with the top up to see how much the small rear glass affects it's location.

How about down low like the mirrors on very early sixties Dodge/Chrysler which mounted on the dash top?

Since the mirror has a anti-glare feature it cannot be just flipped upside down, but the mount could be repositioned way down on the windshield if it is one of those bonded jobs.

The mirror on a XJ is particularly bad when using onramps to freeways.

edit: how about two of these mounted in the corners?

Before I remounted mine today I played with the position for a bit and it appears that the spot is fine. Removing the existing mounting arm and devising a proper, sturdy mount (hopefully without denying the ability to remount in original position) seems to be what I'll be sleeping on for a while.

get an SUV or truck. I'm only middle size and still have the annoying knee in the steering wheel problem at times if I slouch too much which is easy to do on those slippery seats!

If I wanted a truck I'd have one. I've had SUVs and trucks, not many of them are any better. I drive trucks, really BIG, $500k - $1mil trucks, every day. While they are cool, they're not what I want to drive home.

If someone reading this has an old mirror they'd like to donate to the cause it would save me hacking up my newly repaired mirror for engineering purposes...
