Default Tensioner question...

My 2000 XK8 convertible arrived last week. I've reviewed the tensioner issue and repair info well documented here. My question is, absent documentation of the repair history, is there a way, without disassembly, to determine if it has been previously addressed? It's running fine, & I'd like to keep it that way.

Thanks

The valve covers must be removed for inspection. It is perhaps a 90 minute job.

I appreciate your response. That'll be near the top of my "to-do" list.

Look up the list of posts that I have made. There is one there that covers the complete job of changing the upper tensioners and some tips on solving some problems in doing so, includint removing the cam covers.

Thanx. I think I found the posts earlier, and printed them out (including the pics) for when the time comes. I just wasn't sure that visual inspection was the only way to determine condition, and probably hoping otherwise.

Wife has a beautiful smile on her face when she drives our yet unnamed new addition. She even lets me drive it!!! (When it needs gas). So I want to take proper care from the onset.
