For thisyear...

Been a busyyear for me. I purchased my '99 Sapphire XK8 Drop Top a year ago. Just rethinking all I 'veaccomplished this past year and its beenquite a bit.

Thanks be toyou all with excellent advice. I feel more confident with my Blue Kitty thanever.;



* Replacedall my power top hoses. Top Hydraulics

* Sent bothtop rams as well as windshield header latch for overhaul. Top Hydraulics

* replacedmy rear speakers with Comp VT Speakers

* Added alittle bling ( cannot help it gents) , Chrome tail lamp surround, headlampsurround as well as marker lamp bezels from XK'sUnlimited.

* Installedrear muffler delete with stainless pipes and chrome exhaust tips by Mina

* InstalledCold air custom Air Filter by Mina

* As Iwanted the following completed by a Jaguar expert ( boy does he have fun stuffin his garage). Just got the babyback. Replace all timing chains, primaryand secondary. All teflon guides, top and bottom. By my new Jag tech

* water pumpreplacement with metal impellers. By mynew Jag Tech

* Replacedthe thermostat housing with aluminum from XK'sUnlimited .



Done, fineto ... At least for thisyear. I'am happy.

I'd say you did a good job of mixing preventative maintenance with upgrades. Your preventative maintenance ensures that your beautiful car will live on and your upgrades enhance rather that "pimp your ride". Well done,

p.s. and I thought I was the only old fart that still called them drop tops.

Forgot to ask. How do you like the rear muffler delete? And do you like the new sound?

A Good guess, I've had convertibles since I was 18. Of course there is a song out and about a Drop Top Cadillac...
My first drop top was a '59 T- Bird. I think it was more like a trunk ( boot) open, top into trunk, filler panel flips down, trunk lid closes, more than just a Drop Top.
My Second convertible is a '72 Buick Skylark. Bought it new, still have it. The scary part is it was not my first new car... Rich

Hey Jag, yes, I do like the rear muff delete. Gives the car just enough rumble. and yes, the " drone" our fellow Jag lovers state is present. Doesn't bother me. Either radio on, window open a little or top down, it is gone. Strange thing is the drone sounds like bad rear diff carrier bearings. Least til you alter the RPM. Rich

Like the color of you Xk. I really lucked out with my car. My XK8 has 50k miles on the odo. I was told the engine was replace with one with only 20k miles. I cound not confirm this. For insurance I had the chains replaced anyway. Saved the parts. All parts were perfect. Not a stress crack or mark anywhere. Oh well... Rich
