Yes, unfortunately, my research shows no aluminum alternative manufactured for the 4.2 at this time. I was finally able to track down a used OEM. The AJ89486 shows as discontinued so an aftermarket one is likely in works. I didn't have patience to wait around

Did anyone come up with a workaround I have a seeping t-stat column could I take the column piece from a 4,0 and use that

I have a 2005 xk8. I am replacing the Coolant system hoses etc I finally called jagbits they reported they have the Correct housing. It arrives tomorrow

Not. Sure. It is supposed to be for an xk8, 2004. I bought as a spare-“in case”

I found them on eBay and AliExpress. I installed one recently, it's still working, and then I bought another as a spare. I also saw an aluminum housing and bought it out of curiosity. One question: do all the 4.2 engines from that era use the same thermostat housing, whether they're S-type, XK8, or XJ8?

I've noticed the thermostat housings aren't the same. They're slightly different for the XK8 and the S-Type. Here's what I just received from Mitzone via eBay for the XK8.
