Default Tilt still jams

I pulled the tilt motor out of my 1998 XK8 and removed the spring washer as is the fix for a jamming tilt motor only to find it still jams every once in a while.

Should I have done something else? I followed the DIY pictures and procedures step by step to the letter.

That fix never panned out as being fully reliable unfortunely.

Mine does this too - doesn't raise completely a/o drop into the memorized position. It can be "bumped" further along by repeatedly toggling the button though. Is this common to the problem as well?

I have to assume that the column's tilt action stops (jams) prematurely due to some sort of torque sensing issue. Has anyone identified a particular component, flaw or malfunction that would be responsible for this? (and be "the" guarranteed fix).

I notice that when the engine has been running the auto tilt works perfectly but not if the car has been standing for a while. I put in a new battery but it has made no difference. It's odd because when the engine is first started the system is still notchy. I can't figure out what's going on.

I'm in the same boat. I just stopped using the 'auto' function altogether, as the reach works fine, but the tilt takes 4-5 assits to get it into position.

Not using the auto doesn't fix the problem and I really like the auto up & down feature.

Has anyone heard of a fix for this problem?
