Default Timing chain replacement tools

Hello,

I just purchased the tools needed to change the tensioners on my 2001 XK8.


JAGUAR V8 TIMING ALIGNMENT CAM TOOL 1997-07 XJ8.XK8 XJR

Timing Chain Tensioning Tool for the - XJ8,XK8,Stype


A friend is doing the job the first week in March. I will be selling the tools after the job is done. If anyone is interested let me know. Thanks.

I would like to consider buying your tools. There are two types of the tool that removes the main pulley on the crankshaft. Could you describe the one you have?

Thanks for the picture. For now I have decided to use the cam lift method for the upper tensioners. And only do those for now. I want to get the car in a safe running condition and determine if my oil consumption and Naksil cylinders are something I want to live with over the long term. If so I will go back in and do all four chains and lower tensioners and slippers plus all the other mods that are needed. For that I will probably just rent a complete set of tools.

I'm getting ready to do my whole timing thing. But while searching for methods and proceedures I ran across one interesting one. It was a fix for jag that involved a new chain with a master link. Thus eliminating the need to remove anything but the old chain and install the new tensioner with a new chain that has a master link.

You know like your old schwinn.

Just came acoss something really interesting earlier tonight.
Daddy007 sent me a link to a post outlining a complate replacement chain job. I noticed the chain box and the designation 06BH-1.
I'm not 100% sure what the H stands for but I actually deal in thie type of chain all day long in the construction business

06B-1 relates to a 3/8" simplex chain

I'm just thinking as I know the mark ups on these kind of things that if I find out what the designation (H) stands for they could be bought much much cheaper probably, all helping with the end costs

To give an example. this is a smallish chain that may be purchased for around say £250 but by the time I sell it on to the end user it could be easily double that!

Might be worth looking into?

I am interested in buying the tool from you, if it is still for sale. I'm just about to do my own.

That's great news! Can you send me or post the link to the thread from Daddy007? It looks like I am going to do this myself, as there are no techs in my area that are worth a --it!
